After retiring as chief marketing officer in 2000, Edward began speaking at Atlanta schools and universities.
He had a good time doing it, but he wished he could spend his time doing something different. He then began volunteering for child care at a hospital.

Edward began his career as a volunteer in the newborn giving hugs, support, and solace to parents and children.
The man saw that several of the patients’ family members did not visit them. ‘There were newborns that nobody was visiting,’ he explained.
The man, who is at the hospital two days a week, is now known as the ‘ICU grandfather.’

‘It’s a good vibe, I like it,’ Edward, a volunteer at the hospital for over 16 years, remarked.
He claims that via his volunteer work, he found that many youngsters, in addition to being healthy, require kindness.

Unfortunately, some youngsters require a bit more love. A photo of Edward holding a baby was provided by a healthcare facility, showing his status as a grandfather in intensive care.
‘They just don’t comprehend what reward you might receive for holding a baby like that,’ he once said.
