🚶♀️💔 Abandoned by the Road — A Mother’s Wound, A Son’s Desperate Return 💔🚶♂️
From the moment I first held him in my arms, my world narrowed to one point — my son. Every breath I took, every choice I made, revolved around him. I didn’t buy myself clothes, didn’t take vacations, and forgot what it meant to sleep peacefully. My life was a long, tireless march for his future.
I scrubbed floors, sorted mail, carried crates, and washed dishes until my fingers split. People used to ask why I worked so hard, and I would smile and say:
«So my boy can have the life I never did.»
He once promised, with all the sincerity a child can muster:
«Mom, when I grow up, I’ll give you a house… and a car.»
I believed him, because I believed in him.

Then she appeared.
From our first meeting, I saw the frost in her eyes. She didn’t greet me, didn’t even pretend. No “Mrs.”, no “Mom” — just a sharp “you,” as if I were a stranger she wished gone.
Little by little, she poisoned him against me.
«Why give your money to her? She’s had her life.»
«Stop visiting her. You have your own family now.»
Once, I brought him his favorite cake. She stopped him at the door, ordered him to wash up before touching “her” kitchen. She spoke about me as though I were a burden — and he let her.

One morning, without warning, he said:
«Mom, let’s go for a drive. You need a break.»
The warmth was gone from his voice. I already knew something was wrong. Still, I went — because mothers follow their children, even into storms.
We drove past towns, then villages, then into nowhere. The road narrowed, the land grew empty. At last, he stopped.
«Get out.»
I stepped into the still air. The sun was low, the wind dry. No houses, no voices, just the hum of his engine.
He didn’t look at me. He closed the door. Drove away.
I stood there, my heart thudding in the hollow space where love had lived. There were no tears, no screams — only silence.

A distant cousin eventually found me and took me in. I didn’t call my son. I couldn’t.
A month passed.
Then he came.
His hair was disheveled, his face worn. He knelt at my feet, his shoulders shaking. His voice broke as he confessed: she had betrayed him — stolen their money, run away with a friend of his, leaving him in ruin.
«Mom… I thought I was choosing my new life. I didn’t see I was destroying the old one.»
He kissed my hands, his tears soaking my skin.
«Forgive me… please. I forgot who truly loves me.»

I looked into his eyes and felt the ache in my chest twist into something unanswerable.
And I thought:
Do all wounds heal with forgiveness… or do some stay open forever?
