My Daughter Wanted to Sell My House – I Agreed, but With One Condition
When my daughter was six, I lost my wife. That day changed my life forever. I swore at her funeral that I would dedicate myself entirely to raising our daughter.
Years passed, and she grew into a kind and intelligent young woman. I was so proud of her. Then, one day, she introduced me to a young man. He was polite, respectful, and seemed to truly love her. When they told me they wanted to get married and live with me, I was thrilled.
But after the wedding, things changed. My son-in-law became cold, sometimes even rude. I endured it for my daughter’s sake.
One day, they suggested selling my house to buy an apartment in the capital. I agreed, but with one condition: the apartment must be in my name. «I just need the security of knowing I won’t be left homeless in my old age,» I explained.
My son-in-law exploded. He called me selfish and distrustful. Then, two days later, they packed their things and left.
At first, I thought it was just anger, that she would come back. But months passed, and I never heard from her.
On my 60th birthday, I prepared her favorite dishes and waited, but she never came. As night fell, I put everything away and lay down, tears streaming down my face. Did I really lose my daughter for wanting to protect myself? Or has her life simply moved on without me?
