How the recognizable doll has changed in recent years: This year marked BarbIe doll’s 63rd birthday

Barbie had new jobs in the 1960s. Mattel hoped that all girls would see themselves in their dolls and realize what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Barbie made new acquaintances and relatives over time. Barbie’s dark-skinned cousin debuted in the late 1960s, but it wasn’t until a few years later that an official hero and one of her best pals debuted.
