Got an old fridge ready to leave your life? Don’t rush to toss or sell it! 😲 I turned mine into something indispensable for the summer house. 😅 Curious to see what I created? You might want to try it too! 👇👇
One of my neighbors turned out to be quite the handyman. Instead of discarding his old fridge, he decided to transform it into something both surprising and practical!
When I saw the result, I was immediately inspired to make one for myself. Who would have thought an old refrigerator could be repurposed into something so functional?
If you have an outdated fridge at home that’s about to be thrown out or sold, wait! That old appliance can become a fantastic helper for your summer house or garden. Here’s how to give it a new life:
Start by removing all unnecessary parts, such as shelves and inner components, leaving only the sturdy metal frame and the door. Next, take out the freezer compartment and create a hole for a pipe to allow proper air circulation.
Don’t remove the door just yet! Instead, carefully cut out spaces for glass panels. Secure the glass in place and add a layer of foam insulation to improve efficiency. For a tighter fit, you can heat the foam with a torch so it adheres snugly to the surface.
Finally, cover all openings with fine metal mesh. This ensures good airflow while keeping insects out.
The result? A homemade solar dryer perfect for dehydrating fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and more. This simple yet effective project turns an old fridge into a must-have for any garden or summer home.
Give it a try—you might find it as rewarding as I did!
