While visiting my best friend’s house one day, I noticed something incredible her little sister was doing with plastic bottles. I couldn’t believe my eyes—she was making a handbag! 😯👜 This was one of those moments where creativity truly shines. Let me share with you the amazing process and how you can create one too! 👇👇👇

Her sister is an incredibly imaginative girl, and whenever I see her creating something new, it always catches my attention. On this particular day, she had surrounded herself with lots of plastic bottles. Curious, I asked her what she was up to. To my surprise, she proudly showed me a handbag she had crafted entirely out of plastic bottles.
She had made it for her grandmother and even planned to create another one for her mom! I was so impressed by her initiative and creativity, so I decided to ask her for the details on how to do it. Here’s how you can create a similar bag yourself:

The first step is to reshape the plastic bottles by cutting them into small rectangular pieces. Don’t worry; it’s easier than it sounds!
Next, you’ll need to flatten these pieces. Iron them at a low temperature, using three layers of paper on top of the plastic. Once the plastic is flat, carefully cut it into square shapes. You’ll then need to create holes at the edges using a soldering iron.
Once the pieces are ready, arrange them in a diamond pattern and begin linking them by interweaving circles through the holes.

Now it’s time to crochet! Use simple stitches to form the body of the bag. For added strength and durability, I recommend using braided patterns for the back and sides.

As for the handles, you can customize them however you like. Whether you prefer long, sturdy handles or something more delicate, it’s all up to you!

This eco-friendly project is not only creative but also sustainable—giving new life to something that would have ended up in the trash. I was so inspired by her that I couldn’t wait to share it with you! 🌱✨
