Catherine Laborde passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 73, following a long illness. On Instagram, her sister Françoise shared a heartfelt message about her last moments, revealing emotional details.
Surrounded by her family, Catherine Laborde took her final breath at her beloved home on the Île d’Yeu. The weather presenter, who had been a prominent figure on TF1 for nearly three decades, had been battling a neurodegenerative disease, Lewy body dementia, for over ten years. In a rare interview with Femme Actuelle in 2023, Catherine spoke openly about her fear of death. “The fear is the approach of the end, it’s a common fear,” she shared. At that time, she expressed how fortunate she felt to have met the love of her life. «That’s when I realize how lucky I am to have met this man. My strength is love. It’s undeniable,» she added.
After the news of her passing, tributes flooded social media, especially from television stars. Françoise Laborde, the journalist and Catherine’s sister, posted a touching message on Instagram to honor her sister’s memory, sharing precious details about her final days. «My dear, you left peacefully in your house on the Île d’Yeu that you loved so much. Gabrièle and Pia, your daughters, and Jimmy, their father, were there with you. And also your husband, Thomas, during your last days. Geneviève and I were with you last week,» Françoise wrote, along with four photos of Catherine.
She continued: «And we could still laugh together as sisters, recalling our childhood memories, talking about Dad and Mum, and even singing you the songs you loved. You gave us this immense gift of having these last moments of awareness and clarity. You left, my dear, very quietly, silently, and peacefully. We love you so much.» These heartbreaking words from Françoise Laborde reflect the deep love and bond she had with her sister.
