A Woman Shares Leftovers with a Poor Boy – One Day, She Decides to Follow Him
Alice, the owner of a small but beloved restaurant, had grown accustomed to a young boy named Chris who came in regularly to collect leftovers. She never questioned why he appeared so often or why he was so secretive about his life, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to his story. One quiet afternoon, Alice decided she would follow him to uncover the truth.
«Today’s your lucky day, Chris,» Steve, her assistant, told the boy, handing over a large bag filled with leftover meals. «Take as much as you can carry.»
«Thanks, Steve! Can I take extra today? I want to make sure there’s enough for everyone back home,» Chris replied, a big smile lighting up his face.

«Of course,» Steve agreed, knowing the boy well. «Take it all.»
Chris happily took the bags, nodded, and waved as he left the restaurant. Alice had always been kind to him, but something about the way he disappeared down the street made her curious. Where exactly was he going with all that food?
The next few days, Alice watched for him, eager to understand. When he returned to the restaurant, she took a step forward, her voice kind but probing. «Hey there, Chris. You’re here for the leftovers again?»
«Yep!» Chris said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. «Could you please call Steve? He promised me those extra bags.»
Alice smiled but shook her head. «No need for that today. I’ve packed fresh meals just for you. By the way, where do you live? You never talk much about it.»

Chris hesitated, a cloud passing over his face. «Well… I live in a shelter, and the meals there aren’t enough. I usually bring food home to my grandmother. She’s all I have left.»
Alice’s heart sank. She hadn’t realized how hard things were for him. «Why don’t you stay with your grandmother?» she asked gently.
Chris looked down, his voice barely above a whisper. «After my parents died, she couldn’t afford to take me in. She’s old, and barely has enough for herself. So, I come here to bring her food.»
Alice was deeply moved by Chris’s selflessness, but it broke her heart to think of him in such difficult circumstances. That same day, she decided to visit his grandmother’s home, hoping to understand more.
When Alice arrived at the small, run-down house, she saw an elderly woman, clearly struggling, picking up one of the bags Chris had left. She looked up at Alice in surprise when she approached.
«You’re the one who’s been helping my grandson?» Edith, Chris’s grandmother, asked, her voice trembling. «I had no idea he was bringing me food from your restaurant.»
Alice nodded. «He cares for you so much, Edith. But you both need more than just food. I can help.»
Alice quickly arranged legal proceedings to have Chris move in with Edith. She didn’t want them separated any longer. Within weeks, Chris was finally able to live with his grandmother, where they both belonged.

«I don’t know how to thank you, Alice,» Edith said, tears in her eyes. «You’ve given us more than we ever dreamed possible.»
Alice smiled, taking Edith’s hands in hers. «You don’t need to thank me. I’ve gained a family today, and that is the greatest blessing of all.»
