A son, taking care of his elderly mother, decided to buy her a small apartment in a building located near his own home.
According to him, his mother is a woman with a strong character, so the apartment had to be flawless after the renovation.
The apartment covers a typical 35 square meters (excluding the balcony) and is situated in a panel building from 1968, with a ceiling height of 2.5 meters.
Despite the small size of the hallway and bathroom, the kitchen occupies nearly 10 square meters, while the main room is over 19 square meters.
The apartment was in poor condition, and before starting the renovation, all old surfaces had to be completely stripped.
Removing paint from the ceilings proved to be especially difficult.
After unsuccessful attempts with electric and manual tools, strong chemicals were used to clear the concrete slab.
During the renovation, the partition between the hallway and the main room was removed, and a new drywall partition was installed in its place, allowing for convenient built-in closets.
Other changes included replacing electrical wiring, radiators, doors, and plumbing.
The walls and ceilings were leveled with plaster and then painted in a uniform tone, including the ceiling molding.
The hallway and kitchen were tiled with ceramic granite, while the room had parquet flooring.
The junction between the two was sealed with silicone caulking.
The kitchen, with access to the balcony, was entirely redesigned, including custom-made furniture.
Since the gas was turned off in the kitchen, they opted not to install a door.
In the bathroom, the separate cabin with wooden wall and ceiling cladding was removed, which widened the space by 20 cm, allowing for a standard 60 cm wide sink cabinet.
The ceiling height was evened out to match the rest of the space, at 2.5 meters. The balcony was glazed and decorated in the same style and color.
What do you think of this transformation? Would you want such a renovation done for you?
