This family planned a trip to the State Park over the weekend.
However, when they saw a massive black bear on the way, the day quickly turned into a nightmare.
To frighten the animal away, the parents encircled their two youngsters and began making loud sounds.
The ravenous beast, however, paid no mind to the din and confidently headed towards the family’s boy.
Their beloved dog went to the owners’ protection at one point. She stepped between the bear and the boy, preparing to wrap her body over the adolescent.
Everything happened extremely quickly, according to the boy’s mother. The animal bit the dog many times before seizing her head.
The dog screamed before breaking loose and attacking the bear.
The father took advantage of the situation by pulling a revolver from his rucksack and aiming at the beast. The dog was rescued, but it was severely hurt.
The family rushed to the veterinarian right once, and after an inspection, the physician declared the shepherd’s wounds were not deep and that she would be alright.
Despite all that has occurred, the family is convinced that the bear is not to blame.
The beast was found to be extremely malnourished, as specialists who studied it later verified.
