Billy Walden, an 18-year-old from Lancaster, UK, has always had a passion for working with his hands.
Whether fixing, building, or restoring, he thrives on creative projects.
After successfully refurbishing an old Volkswagen van, he took on an even bigger challenge—transforming a rusted, abandoned boat into a stunning floating home for his family in just two months!
Billy bought the boat for £5,000 with the help of his mother and spent another £2,800 to renovate it completely.
“I loved every part of this project,” he says. “Creating a home for my family was an amazing experience.
The boat needed a full rebuild, but seeing it transform step by step was so rewarding.” Now, the floating house features a spacious interior, a cozy living area with glass doors leading to the deck, a handmade kitchen, and even comfortable Audi car seats.
His sister’s room, beautifully decorated with his mother’s help, adds a personal touch, and the outdoor deck has been turned into a relaxing oasis.
The family now frequently takes their floating home on trips, traveling hundreds of miles along canals and coasts. “It’s like a countryside retreat, but on the water,” Billy says. “We love spending time together this way.”
