After missing her best cat buddy, a dog becomes a foster mother to nearly 100 kittens

This dog, named Zigzag, was discovered on the street in Oregon a few years ago.

Daria, a shelter staffer, decided to take Zigzag to her six months later.

She recognized a long time ago that Zigzag behaves very differently than other shelter dogs.

Daria already had pets, numerous cats, but Zigzag rapidly learned to communicate with them.

Zigzag spent a lot of time at the shelter with Daria, and when a young kitten was brought in one day, Zigzag immediately developed a mother’s love for him.

Zigzag was very loving and patient with the kittens.

She lets them walk all over her like she’s a big warm toy. According to Daria, Zigzag does more than just care for the kittens; she appears to understand what each of them requires in the first place.

If the kitten is restless, she will not approach him often but will lie quietly, allowing him to gradually become accustomed to her presence.

If the kitten is socialized, she will paw and kiss it all over. Zigzag has taken care of over a hundred kittens in this manner over the years.
