As the invasion of Ukraine continues, numerous civilians have been placed in danger. Creatures, too, have faced grave dangers, ranging from pets separated at the border to zoo animals unable to flee war-torn towns.
Stepan, the most famous of them, has a lot of fans because of his amusing viral videos. His owner recently reported that she and the cat had survived explosions near their flat and had made it to safety. The owner talks about the attack’s early, devastating days.
Her house was secure for a week, she claims, until it was destroyed by falling shells.
‘We spent two nights in the basement and were without power for a week,’ stated the owner. ‘We had to go to the basement nearby to charge the phone.’
Finally, the woman and the cat were able to leave the city: volunteers drove them to the train station, where they boarded a train bound for Liviv after a 20-hour journey. And they’ve delivered on their promise since crossing the border.
Five days ago, the cat’s Instagram posted a photo promoting a fundraising for a Ukrainian animal charity. Surprisingly, the cat’s supporters responded in a huge manner. In a subsequent tweet, the lady revealed that they had raised $10,035!
