Despite the fact that there are multiple no-kill shelters around the country, many animals must still be slaughtered if they cannot find a permanent home. This was true for animals at a Texas shelter, where the fatality rate was alarmingly high.

Almost all of the animals in the shelter had to be put down, but because of the efforts of a kind, industrious, and caring woman, that number was quickly decreased. This woman is an exceptional animal lover who quit her occupation to rescue animals.

The public shelter was in disrepair and in serious need of upgrades and repairs. When she elected to take over the shelter, there was no running water or power.

The budget was tight, and there just weren’t enough finances to complete all of the essential repairs. The shelter, too, was in disrepair. Due to an overpopulation of animals, euthanasia was done every Wednesday.
The woman was devastated to see that so many animals were never given the opportunity to find new homes.

The woman immediately began asking close friends, coworkers, and family members whether they had any extra groceries. She acquired boxes of essential items for the animals in a few days.
