A man returning from work in late May spotted a dog that had fallen into a deep hole by mistake. The filthy dog was sitting at the bottom of a ditch, staring the man down as if pleading with him to stop and help him.
With all his desire, the man would not have been able to pull the dog out with his bare hands. He couldn’t, however, leave the unfortunate fellow to die. For assistance, the man appealed to Facebook users. He recounted the scenario and included a photo of the dog in the hopes of locating its owner.
The man then called the stray animal control department and requested that they come to the location.
A rescue squad and many firefighters arrived shortly after; without their ladder, bringing the animal to the top would have been extremely impossible. The experts operated fast and properly, and the poor dog was rescued shortly after.
Despite his ordeal, he appeared to be in good health, merely slightly dehydrated. The dog’s owner was also located thanks to social media, and he rushed to take the critter home. It’s still unclear how the dog got so far away from his home and into a pit.
Maybe he was so thrilled to be out for a walk that he forgot to be cautious and didn’t detect the trap in the ground. The man’s generosity and goodwill were not unnoticed. The man does not consider himself a hero — after all, what is a few hours in the life and death of a living being?
